Block Optic Depression Glass The Block Optic pattern was manufactured by the Hocking Glass Company in Lancaster, Ohio, between 1929 and 1933. Pieces were produced in crystal, green, pink, and yellow. A limited number of pieces were produced in amber. This is a widely collected pattern.
The Hocking Glass Company was founded in 1905 later it became Anchor Hocking. Fire-King glass ware is an Anchor Hocking brand of glassware similar to Pyrex.
This green fluoresces under a black light due to uranium. Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed during the Cold War in the 1940s. There is a great lot of good information about this kind of glass on Wikipedia.
